Nigeria’s System
Failure Epitomized By Senseless Killings
Over A Carton In
Denmark
New
York, February 26, 2006–Following
the senseless slaughter, killings, maiming of innocent lives,
destruction of properties and most serious threat to public order
by thugs, hoodlums, religious fanatics, assassins and hardcore
criminals in various parts of Nigeria over a cartoon of Prophet
Mohamed in a newspaper in Denmark, Switzerland;
Following reports indicating that hundreds
of dead bodies from the carnage had been identified; thousands
were injured and maimed and tens of thousands are refugees within
less than one week of senseless riot making Nigeria the largest
number of casualty of the cartoon anywhere in the world; Africans
In America, Inc. wish to pose the following questions to the
individuals running the African nation:
1. What has a cartoon of Prophet Mohamed
in a newspaper in far away Denmark, Europe has to do with Christians
going about their business in Nigeria, Africa?
2. Are the Christians in Nigeria the
owners of the newspaper that published the cartoon of the Muslim
Prophet?
3. Is the artist that drew the picture,
the journalist, the editor, the management of the newspaper in
Denmark a Nigerian Christian?
4. Do the Nigerian Christians have any
form of control whatsoever over the affairs of the newspaper
in Denmark that published the cartoon of Prophet Mohamed?
5. Did the Nigerian Christians in any
way whatsoever instigate or contribute to the publication of
the cartoon of the Prophet?
6 Since the protest erupted in some parts
of Europe and Asia, some protesters were marching, holding rallies,
burning flags, chanting songs and few rioting; Why did Nigeria
resort to senseless slaughter, killings, maiming of innocent
Christian lives?
7. Who organized and coordinated the
thugs, hoodlums, religious fanatics, assassins and hardcore criminals
that slaughtered, killed, maimed innocent Christian lives in
various parts of Nigeria?
8. Were the jobless youths and outlaws
merely used to achieve some other ulterior motives?
9. Where are our leaders - the political
leaders, the police, the state security services, the national
defense, the religious leaders, and the community leaders?
The failure of the leadership, the inability
of the leadership to prevent this carnage is 1). A threat to
national security; 2). Scaring away potential investors and 3).
Dragging the name of Nigeria to the mud.
The system
(from bottom to top; from the local leadership – the
community leaders, religious leaders, youth leaders, protests
leaders, local government leaders, the security leaders, to
the state government leaders and the federal apparatus in the
states) failed resulting in total carnage, many death and destruction
in the land.
Leaders with integrity must accept full
responsibility for their failures and submit resignation immediately.
Clinical investigation must be conducted and those responsible
for the carnage including those in position of authority who
have abused their position must face the full weight of the law.
Africans In America, Inc. is therefore
calling for thorough investigation and house-cleaning.
