Death of Nigerian
Governor’s female aide
in New York hospital
could reveal corruption, murder and cover-up
New York, December 08, 2004—Following
the mystery and controversy surrounding the death of Miss
Theresa Ego Nkwoka, a native of Abatete, Anambra State, Nigeria
and an aide to the governor of Anambra State in a New York
hospital, Africans In America, Inc. wish to make the following
statements: We are calling on the New York Police
Department and the Nigerian Police Force to conduct thorough
investigation to determine the true circumstances leading
to the death of this young lady. We are requesting the key players
in all circumstances leading to her death including the Anambra
State Government officials, hospitals and medical centers
where she was treated in Nigeria and the United States, the
individual that kept her in New York and individuals that
facilitated her movements to fully cooperate with the authorities
in the investigation. Since the
deceased lady’s family
was reportedly kept in the dark about the real cause of her
death and details of her treatment at various hospitals,
and was not even told that the lady was flown abroad accompanied
by top government official, we are deeply concerned. Since the deceased was reportedly
pregnant by a top Nigerian government official, we are deeply
concerned. Since allegation and suspicion of
murder and cover-up had been raised, and since the players
in this case may have been involved in few other alleged
murder and cover-up in the past, we are deeply concerned. Since the governor of Anambra State
- a medical doctor by training admitted visiting satanic
shrine to perform rituals in order to get political position
and power, the same shrine police later raided and discovered
over 70 openly displayed human dead bodies and skulls at
various levels of decomposition, and since the governor has
not denied allegation that human beings were slaughtered
for the rituals, we are deeply concerned. The governor who publicly visited
New York/New Jersey for the World Igbo Congress convention
starting on September 1-6, 2004, secretly returned to New
York at the end of October 2004 for undisclosed reason. This
is quite unusual for Nigerian government official of his
status. It is unknown at this moment whether
the death of the female aide has anything to do her work
at the Anambra State Government. High government officials must at
least appear to be open, sincere and accountable in their
conducts. Nigerian officials do often commit crimes with
impunity and claim immunity from inquiry. Africans In America, Inc., is a human
rights advocacy and anti trafficking-in-persons organization
dedicated to end abusive treatment of victims of human trafficking
in the United States. Controversy trails death of Ngige's
