ON THE RUDE AND BIZZARE CONDUCT
OF GOVERNOR CHRIS N. NGIGE
DURING HIS RECENT VISIT TO THE UNITED STATES.

December 27, 2003--- Following the failure of the Anambra State governor Dr. Christ N. Ngige to honor his commitment to attend meetings and reception he had requested us to organize for him in New York on November 2, 2003; and, following his recent slanderous attacks on our respectable organizations, we wish to make the following statements for clarity and record purpose:

Governor Ngige requested our organization to organize events for him in New York to meet with the New York business and political leaders to seek investment in Anambra State in Nigeria.

We hired a management consultant, rented a hall at the elegant Marriott Marquis, which is in the strategic heart of New York City, and meticulously organized elaborate and decent reception for the governor. We printed and distributed invitations, did publicity, invited the press and prepared a plaque to honor the governor. We also contacted/requested the New York/New Jersey Authority to arrange a memorial for the Governor to lay wreathes at the site of the former World Trade Center in solidarity with the American people. We kept the governor’s office abreast of every arrangements and developments, and got approval. We incurred tremendous expenses.

However, upon getting to New York, the governor in a very rude way cancelled his mutually agreed and scheduled appearance.

By these conducts, the governor disappointed our organizations, the New York/New Jersey Authority, the victims of September 11, the press and the American public.

We had sent three letters to the governor expressing our outrage and seeking refund for the expenses he had caused us to incur, but got no reply. Our telephone calls were not returned, either.

We were also shocked to read from the Nigeria newspapers that the governor has unleashed attacks on our organizations, calling us slanderous names, and challenging us to go to court. That, notwithstanding, we remain focused on recovering our expenses from the governor at the moment, and we will deal with other matters at the appropriate moment, through appropriate channels.

The reason we do not go into attack is not because there was nothing untoward about the conducts of governor Ngige, his government and the company he kept in the U. S. during his visit. However, we did not want to be forced to descend to their level of names calling. We want to remain focused and pursue our organizational matters in civilized and decent manners. We will stick to the issues.

We have since learned some of the chilling factors responsible for the governor’s rude and bizarre behaviors.

The governor abruptly cancelled his scheduled appearance on getting to New York due to pressure from the associates of human trafficking syndicates, anti-American sleeper cell, and other hardcore criminal syndicates in the United States, some of who are his relatives.

These syndicates are opposed to the work of our partner organization Africans In America, Inc. that provides social support services to end the abusive treatment of the victims of human trafficking in the United States.

1). Major disagreement with the associates/syndicates started in New York City in the 1990s during the formation of Nnobi Association, Inc. The objectives of the association include promoting the welfare of Nnobi natives residing in the New York/New Jersey area. During the period, a 13 years old girl from Nnobi – a victim of child trafficking was raped and impregnated by a medical doctor who held her captive. The Chairman of Nnobi Association who is also a medical doctor refused to listen to pleas of few members to come to the aide of the little girl (13 years old) claiming that she was not a member of the association. Instead, the Chairman turned the meeting of the association into explicit sexual gossip session. In the process, the very gossip phenomena he encouraged and facilitated stung him. He left the association in anger. Due to absence of adequate community assistance, the girl was placed in the New York City foster care system and she is stranded till this day. This Chairman is a relative of governor Ngige.

2). We had another collision with this same syndicate in 1998 – 2000. One of their associates held another girl victim of child trafficking in captivity for 9 years starting at age of 13 and terribly abused her in New York City. The syndicates had for long time provided support and cover for the child trafficking perpetrators when the U. S. Authorities attempted to investigate cases of the child abuse in the past. In 1998, the victim was severely assaulted during what appeared to be an attempt to murder her. Again, the syndicate/associate including governor Ngige’s relatives came to the aid of the human trafficking perpetrators and gave no support to the helpless victim. We took up the matter and came to the aid of the victim at this time. The syndicate unleashed falsified blackmail against us. The case was thoroughly investigated by the United States Federal authorities, tried in the United States Federal Court of the Southern District in New York. The slave masters/madams were convicted. The two-convicted slave master/madam are associates of the former chairman of Nnobi Association, who is a relative of governor Ngige.

The syndicates and their associates had been attacking threatening, and blackmailing us both in the United States and in Nigeria. They had plotted assassination of our official during visit to Nigeria. They learnt that our organizations were hosting the governor in New York, and plotted to sabotage it. The same relative organized a dinner for him at the same time our event was scheduled to take place, and they convinced the governor to cancel and disregard all events we organized for him.

We were shocked that the governor Ngige agreed to impolitely cancel his requested, scheduled, and confirmed appearance at the events in order to dine and wine with the crime syndicates. It is surprising that the governor will allow his government to be used to fight human right organizations.

If governor Ngige is serious about attracting the American and other western investments in Anambra State as he requested from us, 1). He would have honored the reception organized for him to market Anambra to the American people. 2). He would have honored the memorial organized for him by the New York/New Jersey Authority to lay wreathes at the site of the former World Trade Center in solidarity with the American people. 3). Visiting the abused and stranded victims of children trafficking plugged from their poor parents in Africa would have shown the governor as a sympathetic human being, a different corps of African leadership. The American press would have covered these events widely and this would have marketed Anambra State in very positive ways. Rather, the governor chose shopping for suits at Sachs on 5th Avenue in Manhattan accompanied by a low-life society woman with hardcore criminal history in the U.S. who we identify at the moment as “lady ngooor”. The medium price for a pair of suit at the store is $2,500.00 - $5,000.00.

Our investigation further shows that this low-life woman may have scared the governor about making the appearance fearing that the American press we had invited may ask him embarrassing questions that would expose his apparent fraudulent election and government. The society lady (a low-level hotel worker) reportedly has expertise at mischief, money laundering and other crimes. She practically highjacked the governor right from the airport for her selfish schemes and deals. The interest of Anambra indigenes at home and abroad has absolutely no meaning to her.

We will not allow our energy to be diverted from the very important mandate of our organizations, which are:

· Ending the abuse of survivors of human trafficking, especially, economically disadvantaged women and girl (children) from African living in the United States.

· Providing social services, self-empowerment and community awareness to the underserved and economically disadvantaged African communities in the New York metropolitan area.

· Assisting the U. S. government to pursue the trafficking and abusers of victims of children trafficking, regardless of their status in the society.

· Extending these services to the rural (villages) and urban communities in African, including Anambra State of Nigeria where bad leadership and corruption is devastating the lives of poor families, especially, women and children.

Human rights, anti-corruption, social, and economic justice, ending exploitation of people, facilitation of economic, educational and social development of the rural (villages) and urban communities in African and in the Diaspora are the core objectives of Freedom and Justice International, Inc.

Governor Ngige must learn that inasmuch as the human trafficking syndicates and their associates (including his relatives in New Jersey and the society lady in New York) detest our programmatic services to end the abusive treatment of the victims, the United States authorities, institutions, the public, and most importantly, the victims and their families appreciate the work we do.

Governor Ngige must also learn quickly how to separate family/personal business from government business. This is elementary lesson in civics the governor ought to know.

The conduct of governor Ngige presents gross insensitivity to the maltreatment of victims of children trafficking. It also shows the collusion of African government officials, which makes enforcement, and eradication of the scourge very difficult.

Governor Chris Ngige who we had supported in very significant ways after his kidnapping lured us to spend our meager funds to organize events for him, only to cancel all of them in order to dine and wine with the very syndicates that oppose our work. This, we find tasteless, reprehensible and outrageous.

In reference to the governor's denial of any knowledge of engagements with our organizations, see below the letters he sent to us requesting us to organize meeting with New York business and political leaders.
