Photorial/Pictorial Brief Overview

1

1      1      1

Following a petition of former pastor/priest of fetish shrine in Okija, Anambra State, Nigeria, Anambra State Command of Nigeria Police Force raided fetish shrines in Okija, and discovered over 70 dead bodies and hundreds of human body parts openly displayed and at various levels of decomposition. The police also recovered about 4 to 13 registers containing the names of people who patronized the shrines as customers. That list was said to include names of very prominent people such as prominent politicians, business tycoons, opinion leaders, military and police top brass, religious leaders including a Pentecostal bishop from Rivers State and other very prominent Nigerians

Former Inspector General of Nigeria Police, Mr. Tafa Balogun took the case and mishandled it.

Main Segments and Themes of This Study/Presentation

This presentation has 3 case study segments and 4 main themes.

The first segment will deal with the case study of Odozi Obodo crime syndicate (aka, Odozi Obodo secret cult; aka, Odozi Obodo Secret Society) in about 1958.

The second segment will deal with case study of Headless Body Found Floating on River Thames in London on September 17, 2001

And the third segment will deal with case study of Okija Fetish Shrines Horrors

The 4 main themes of this presentation are:

  1. First, to compare and contrast how Nigerian police under colonial British administration handled similar, or rather, more complex crimes involving equally very powerful people (the case of Odozi Obodo crime syndicate) in about 1958 and got better result.
  2. Secondly, to show how modern police work solve a very, very complex and clueless case of headless body found floating on River Thames in London on September 17, 2001
  3. Thirdly, to show how modern Nigeria police hierarchy handled, or rather, mishandled crimes which many believe was deliberately mishandled because prominent individuals in the society were involved.
  4. Fourth, to draw comparism and contrast: the similarities and differences between the cases of Odozi Obodo crime syndicate in about 1958 which Nigeria police handled and got better result and this recent case of Okija Human Slaughter Fetish Cult Shrine Crime Syndicate which was clearly covered up.

This study also shows that Anambra State is in state of political, social, economic, safety and security, law and order comatose for 2 main reasons namely:

  1. Because of horrors that took place at Okija shrines, and
  2. Because those horrors were believed to be covered-up therefore sending unmistakable subliminal messages that frauds and crimes are the way in Anambra State and Nigeria in general.

And those horrors apparently did not start with 2003 elections in the state. It apparently started way prior to that period, however, political godfathers, candidates for political appointments, government officials and politicians got deeply involved starting in about 1999.

This study also shows that the state of general malaise in Anambra State today is traced to horrors Anambra political class committed in those shrines. Covering up those horrific crimes invites all sorts of criminality in the polity. This study also shows what could happen to a society when leaders and governments are polluted and compromised.

This study also shows that for Anambra State to move forward, Anambra State government, the people of Anambra State, the stakeholders, the owners of Anambra State and all interested in development and progress of the state have to see the greater harm done to the state by cover-up of the horror finds at Okija, Anambra State in August 2004, as well as commit to appropriately resolving it.
